Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I vote online?
Voting online is secure, it’s fast, and more convenient for many. The sooner your proxy is received, the sooner your incentive payment is generated and sent to you. It also aligns with Sealaska’s green initiatives to reduce paper and lower expenses like postage.

Will I still receive a proxy incentive payment?
Yes. In fact, you’ll receive it more quickly by voting online. Once you have voted you can check the status of your payment on the payment tab at your MySealaska account.

Is online voting really secure?
Yes. A layered multi-facet security scheme ensures the security of your personal information and privacy of your voting records. All communications between your computer, MySealaska and the Online Voting system hosted by the Inspector of Elections is encrypted using industry best practice technologies.

You can validate this by observing the Lock icon on your browser navigation bar. Your identity is authenticated using information you provide and validate. Electronic firewalls and intrusion prevention systems are in place to prevent unauthorized access to your personal and voting information. Just like with a paper proxy, only you and the Independent Inspectors of Election and Voting will know your vote.

Your login through MySealaska electronically validates your identity, which is securely passed to the online voting site maintained by the Independent Inspectors of Election and Voting.

You will need to enter the last four digits of your Social Security Number to submit your online proxy and complete the voting process.

MySealaska logon and confirmation of the last four digits of your Social Security number in the online proxy form will constitute your electronic signature.

What if I change my mind about who I want to vote for?
You can submit a later-dated online proxy if you choose to change your vote. Just go back to MySealaska, click on the link to Online Voting and follow the steps to cast another proxy. Only the latest dated proxy will count as your vote.

Only one proxy incentive payment will be issued, even if you vote more than once.

You can vote online more than once per day, with the most recent counting as your vote.
